Whether it’s Lake Erie or Lake Ontario, the Niagara River or Erie Canal, Western New Yorkers love it when a restaurant pops up along the water. Without question, a new fun spot at the water’s edge with a beautiful sunset can quickly become a popular destination.

Enter Lago 210.

One of the regions’ newest lakeside restaurants welcomes diners to eat, drink and find peace along the shores of Lake Erie. Lago 210 takes the place of the former Bedrock Eatery at 4038 Hoover Road in Hamburg.

Open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner, plus Saturday and Sunday brunch, Lago 210 has impressive, tasty menus, that, oh by the way, feature equally impressive drink selections.

When I saw they had a Saturday brunch, I had to try it out. Sunday has long been THE day for brunching, but a Saturday offering? That’s like extra credit.

And Lago 210 didn’t disappoint.

Before I get to the food, I can’t just breeze by the setting. You can’t beat lakeside views, and luckily for Lago 210 diners, there are beautiful views and angles no matter where you sit. It was still a little chilly the Saturday we brunched, so we sat inside, but as the temperature rose and the restaurant filled, so did the tables that frame the property.

For nighttime drinks and dining outside, Lago 210 offers visitors the chance to drink on their beach or dine around a fire. It’s a truly unique and fun experience for two or a small group.

Now, to the menu. The brunch menu was fantastic. We kicked things off with tasty cocktails. Don’t judge – it was brunch, after all! My wife chose the Apple Fizz from the cool mocktails options and I picked the Local Black Manhattan. Both just hit the spot and set the tone for a great experience.

As for meals, there are tons of excellent options of all different sizes to choose from, but we opted for the Triple T—Tenderloin Taco Trio, made with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese and more, Oxtail Benedict, and the Sweet Potato O’ Brien.

The tacos were light, fluffy and melt in your mouth. The Oxtail was delicious and prepared perfectly. And the sweet potatoes with assorted peppers were roasted and packed with flavor. They are listed as a side, but there was a ton to share.

A quick note: At the time we dined, Lago 210 was employing touchless menus accessed by a QR Code and your cell phone. The same goes for payment. We paid by scanning our check with our phone and entering our credit card info. But rest assured, you still get amazing service from the moment you walk in.

There’s no question, Lago 210 is already becoming one of the more popular dinner spots in the area. And by peeking at the menu, you can see why.

There are shareable plates like roasted beef marrow with shishito jam or low country poutine with house cut fries topped with andouille sausage, shrimp, and a creole sauce – just to name a few. There are several salads, flatbreads and sliders of all sorts, and then the “satisfy” section of the menu featuring Surf and Turf Risotto, VooDoo Gnocchi, Oxtail Gnocchi and Shrimp & Grits.

“Our handcrafted small plates will provide big flavor and are sure to have something everyone can enjoy.” They aren’t kidding.

Oh, and there are dozens of wine, beer, cocktail and seltzer choices – even including reserve wines and Lago’s private label Sotaleta red and white.

In a word: Impressive.

As they say on their website, Lago 210 has brought a little culture to the Lake Erie shoreline through locally sourced ingredients. Great food. Great views. And with a drink in hand? You’ll get it all at Lago 210.
